What we take off your plate

Cross-border tax for US citizens living in Canada, handled.

  • 1040, FBAR and Form 8938 filed together, sized to what you actually hold
  • PFIC calls made on Canadian funds before they become a Form 8621 problem
  • Canadian and US returns prepared by one team
  • Treaty positions and foreign tax credits lined up
  • FBAR and T1135 foreign reporting
  • ITIN applications certified in-house

Mistakes we fix

Three things that go wrong for US citizens living in Canada.

  1. Skipping FBAR or Form 8938 because Canadian tax was already paid on the same accounts
  2. Holding Canadian mutual funds or ETFs in a TFSA without knowing they are PFICs
  3. Assuming the treaty erasing US tax owing also erases the duty to file

Common questions.

Where do we meet?

Virtually, or in person at our office about 15 minutes from Square One.

My e-commerce store sells into the US. Do I owe US tax?

Possibly — US state sales tax has economic nexus thresholds (commonly US$100,000 in sales or 200 transactions per state), and income tax exposure depends on how you operate. We review your footprint and tell you plainly what applies.

Can you work with my existing Canadian accountant?

Yes — we can handle just the US side and coordinate with them, or take on both sides as one engagement.
